About the Congress

Every two years, the International Research Society for Children's Literature (IRSCL) organizes a Congress at which scholars from all over the world have the opportunity to meet, to exchange ideas and to initiate collaborations. Each IRSCL Congress has a theme relevant to current research in the field of children’s literature studies.


The 26th Biennial Congress of the International Research Society for Children’s Literature will be taking place in Santa Barbara, CA, August 12-17, 2023. The conference theme is “Ecologies of Childhood”. 


The IRSCL Congress 2023  is hosted by the University of California, Santa Barbara, in collaboration with the Center for East Asian Studies at Stanford University.
